2-17-12 by Blair Peterson '12, Sports Media
Both senior Bruin basketball teams are one game into their conference tournament and
both will be playing in the finals on Saturday night in Malvern. With a win in the finals,
both teams will receive a number one seed going into the regional tournament.
The Lady Bruins played the Nashville Lady Scrappers on Thursday evening, and
walked away with another big win, giving them a spot in the finals. The girls led by 12
at half, and finished the game with a convincing 58-24 victory. The team was led by
junior India Wilson with 17 points, followed by Scarlett McCracken, who was hot
behind the arc, with 14 points. The Bruins will face Malvern on their home court in the
finals, and are expecting a very tough game. Although they have already beaten
Malvern twice, Coach Rick Treadway says that Malvern is by far the most physical,
athletic team in 4A.
The boys played Bauxite on Thursday evening and dominated yet again. The Bruins led
by 30 going into halftime and ended up winning 57-32. The boys were lead by
sophomores Sean Corothers and Chase Snider who both had 10 points on the night.
The Bruins will face Maumelle in the finals on Saturday night. They have beaten
Maumelle twice this year, but must get them once more to earn that top seed in the
regional’s next week.
